Motorola Droid 4 gets fondled on video before release

Are you a lover of QWERTY keyboards? Verizon’s Motorola Droid 4 is scheduled to launch this week and the guys from Wirefly spent some hands-on time with the device this weekend. Highlights of the Droid 4 include an edge-lit, 5-row keyboard, dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 4-inch qHD display, 1 GB RAM, dual cameras, and support for Verizon’s blazing fast 4G LTE network. DROID 4 rumored to launch February 9th for $199.99 on Verizon [updated]

Verizon Wireless and Motorola unveiled the DROID 4 at last month’s Consumer Electronics Show, but the handset never formally received a release date. A new rumor from Droid-Life points to a launch next week on February 9th, however. The newest DROID will reportedly launch at $199.99 with a new two-year agreement — a price that matches a recently leaked MAP list and what we were told by a Verizon representative. The smartphone features a 4-inch qHD display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel camera, 4G LTE connectivity and a five-row QWERTY keyboard. Thanks to upcoming network enhancements, the DROID 4 will also be able to roam overseas, making it Verizon’s first 4G LTE device with global roaming capabilities.

UPDATE: According to leaked Verizon equipment guide obtained by Droid-Life, the device is now rumored to launch on February 10th. The date coincides with the release of Star Wars Episode One in 3D.

Motorola announces RAZR Developer Edition with unlocked bootloader for Europe, US variant on the way

Promises. You can either let technicalities get in your way of fulfilling them, or you can just find a way to keep them. Motorola, it seems, wants to do the latter. Sorta. In a new blog post, the outfit announced the Motorola RAZR Developer Edition, a fully unlockable version of the handset destined for European shores. The announcement didn't come with a release date, but pointed towards a (currently non-functional) pre-order page for the CM7 hungry. Don't fret, America -- Motorola's thinking of you as well, mentioning that a similar developer device will be available in the United States through MOTODEV, the firm's developer network.
